When I graduated from UCSB in 2012, I didn't know what I had to offer the industry. I did know, however, that I wanted to be in tech. I started my career working at Best Buy for a marketing agency that was contracted by Google. It was a sales job, and while I enjoyed talking to customers about computers and software, I knew I wanted to do something more challenging and fun.

I got hired as a recruiter, which I admit is also a sales job. I hated it. I was terrible at making cold calls and closing deals. However, I learned about UX through one of my searches, and I used that as leverage to learn more about the trade.

I wanted to be like them, so I made a career change.

I recognize that there are people out there who also want to make a career change to UX, and this course is here to help you develop a fundamental understanding of what it takes to be a UX designer. Hopefully, it will be an affordable and self-paced journey.

Making a career change can be scary, but with the right self-determination and drive, anyone can do it. Just be sure to be proactive, chase your curiosity, and continue to try new things, even if it's scary. I have now been working at Disney Parks Experience and Product for 8+ years now and am ready to share my UX process.

This course does not guarantee you a job as a UX designer. No course will. What this course will offer is an understanding of the design journey and process that it takes to make a digital product. Whether that's a mobile prototype application, a personal website, or to improve your cross-collaboration with a UX designer at your current job, this course should help lay the foundation of what it takes to make a usable product.

If you're feeling discouraged, that's how you know you're on the right path. While the design process may be linear, the actual journey itself is scrappy, confusing, and intimidating. This course is here to help you get over those design challenges and find ways to get you over the hump to get you to the finish line.

For any design challenges you may face, there will always be a design workshop to help you get over that hump. This course is here to help shed light into what those methodologies may look like.
